Welcome Orientation for Seekers
New to the Siddha Yoga Path

Sunday, 10:15 a.m. -10:35 a.m.
Saturday, once a month, 6:45 p.m. - 7:05 p.m.

Each Sunday there is a Welcome Orientation for seekers new to the Siddha Yoga path in the Welcome Center. This orientation includes a brief introduction to the Siddha Yoga path and to the Siddha Yoga Ashram in Oakland. Afterwards you are invited to the weekly satsang from 10:45 a.m. - 12:15 p.m.

There is also a Welcome Orientation once a month on Saturday evenings before the namasankirtana. Come and chant with us!

Siddha Yoga Satsangs
Sunday, 10:45 a.m. - 12:15 p.m.

Keeping good company supports our spiritual journey. At the Siddha Yoga Ashram in Oakland, seekers young and old, longtime seekers and seekers new to the Siddha Yoga path, all come together to chant, meditate, study the Guru’s teachings, and be in the company of the Truth. This is called satsang. Siddha Yoga Satsangs are held on Sunday mornings following the Welcome Orientation.

Saturday Evening Events

Namasankirtana and Svadhyaya: Recitation of Scriptural Texts
Saturday, twice a month, 7:15 p.m. - 8:15 p.m.

Shiva Mahimnah Stotram and Shri Rudram (alternate months)
First Saturday of each month. See the Event Calendar for details.

Shiva Mahimnah Stotram, or "Hymn to the Glory of Shiva," is a melodious chant praising the limitless attributes of God. It describes the Lord as Shiva, the supreme principle underlying all creation.

Shri Rudram is one of the oldest hymns in the world and is dedicated to Lord Rudra, the one who brings happiness and removes pain.

Namasankirtana
The fourth Saturday of most months

The Namasankirtana is a beautiful group chant done in a call and response fashion, with musical accompaniment. Please see the Event Calendar for the dates.

Daily Text Recitation

Shri Guru Gita

Shri Guru Gita  or "The Song of the Guru," is a beautiful hymn that honors the Guru and describes the Guru-disciple relationship. This ancient text is an extraordinary depiction of the mystical, transforming nature of the Guru, the Guru-disciple relationship, and the relationship between the Self and one's own mind.

Kundalini Stavah

For centuries, devotees have sung this beautiful chant in praise of the divine cosmic power, Kundalini Shakti, whose awakening within a seeker is the key to spiritual growth. 

Shiva Arati and Evening Arati

Arati, the offering of light and prayer, is a traditional form of worship performed daily in Siddha Yoga ashrams. The Evening Arati begins with the playing of instruments while an arati lamp is waved, followed by a text chant. The Shiva Arati is chanted while the lamp is waved.

Shri Rudram
Sundays, 6:15 a.m - 7:00 a.m.

Shri Rudram is one of the oldest hymns in the world and is dedicated to Lord Rudra, the one who brings happiness and removes pain.
