On Mahashivaratri, the great night of Shiva, the mantra Om Namah Shivaya will be played in Shaktinilaya Hall. The Bhagavan Nityananda Temple will be open for meditation.

The night of the new moon in late February is especially sacred to Lord Shiva. On this day, the merit of each repetition is said to equal the merit of a thousand repetitions at other times.
